The Darkness Within...

Wren...
Click...Click...Click...goes the remote as I press down on it hard to relieve my stress from listening to my father yell and hit my mother. Channel 32 turned on as a vigorously shove the TV off the wall. It fell so hard it shattered into pieces. I noticed my father had stopped abusing my mother and was heading up stairs. Oh no....I knew it was time to run. It was either run or get beaten. I started to sprint to the window, I got it half way open when I felt something grab my leg. Guessing it was my father pulling me back, I started to kick as hard as I could. Trying to keep myself from getting hurt more than I needed. He had already given me worse...like a broken bone and thousands of bruises. Why? I don't know exactly...I turn around to a punch in the face. I felt hatred flow through my body as I reach for the closest thing near me. Happily I grabbed the pocket knife that was to the left of me, and tried to open it as fast as I could. As soon as it opened I slit his throat and jabbed him in the hip, and he was now kneeling. To make sure he fell to the ground I kneed him in the chin, punched him in the face, grabbed some money then ran to the window. As I slipped out the window I heard my mother whimper,"Thank you..." Then that's when I heard something fall to the ground. Oh no...I think...I think, my mom’s...dead... Now filled with fear I turn around and sprint into the woods after running a mile on the road covered in blood. I went to a hole in a tree where I stash all my weapons at. I grabbed my pocket knife...And told myself all the things my father had said. "Useless, slave, fat, scum, and so on..." I started to carve every last word into my leg. Blood drained from my leg like it had done many times before. I started to doze off from the loss of blood.
I woke up to the sound of sirens. Oh no the ambulance is here, but who called them? I looked up and saw a group of kids on the phone, I assumed that’s why I hear sirens. “She’s waking up,” one of them shouted.”Wow she has a pocket knife.” Another one commented backing away, as I held on to the knife tightly. I scanned the forest floor quickly looking for a place to run, then sprung up, went to sprint then fell back down. A girl slowly walked up to me and motioned to me that it’s ok, and no one is going to hurt me. That they just want to help, then commented,”You’ve been asleep for 3 hours, we didn’t know what to do until one of us called the hospital… Are you ok???” I shook my head,”No, I need to get away from here. As far away as possible.” The girl shook her head in confusion,”But the sirens are drawing near-” I cutted her off saying,”I need you to get me to California. And you can trust me by the way.” “Well I guess… Do you guys think it’s ok?” She said nodding towards her group of friends. Most of them nodded their heads, especially at the fact they would be going to California. I caught a glimpse of one of the guys who were staring at me. I looked away turning a little red, then heard a chuckle. An hour later…

After sitting on their party bus for what felt like hours. Someone asked,”Why are you so quiet?” It was the same guy I had seen earlier,”Well… I don’t know, why do you ask so many questions?” I replied with a smirk. “That wasn’t cool.” He chuckled,”So...What’s your name? You never told me.” “Maybe because you never asked.” I started to laugh at my own words...He joined in on the laughter… He plopped down on the couch next to me. I gave him a warning look, and he said,”What’s wrong never sat by anyone before?” “Well...Not really. I was home schooled, and my father never let me out of the house. When I would sneak out I was only aloud to be out for an hour before my dad would check in on me.” I mentioned putting my head down. “That must be hard for you...?But getting back on the topic we were on.”He stated,”What’s your name?” looking up I replied,”Wren.”                                 ~few minute pause~ “Eugene...My name is Eugene.” He finally said after a while. It seemed as if we were talking for an hour about the randomness
things. laughing here, and there. When really it had been almost a whole day. I started to doze off, he picked me up and carried me to the back laid me down on the bed then said,”I have my spot on the floor.” I chuckle.”Good night.” “Good night.” Eugene whispered. I fell asleep quickly.

I felt someone shaking my arm softly at first then to the point where I couldn’t ignore it,”What?” “Come on I want to show you something.” A familiar voice whispered in my ear… Eugene, I thought. He threw a pair of pants a sheer shirt at me. “Here, get dressed.” I stared at him, warning him that he should turn away. He walked out of the room, as if thinking I would go right back bed. I got dressed, walked out of the room and saw Eugene motioning for me to come. I quickly walked around the swarm of people sleeping on the floor of the bus. Went around a few poles, then caught up with him. Eugene unlocked a gold door, behind the gold door was a staircase. “Ladies first.” He smirked, and held out a hand. I hesitantly grabbed it and glided up the stairs. There was a trap door, I tried pushing it up a first time but it didn’t budge. After one more time of trying to move it. It decided to open. “That took awhile.” Eugene said laughing. I scolded him, but he only laughed harder. The other side was some type of room where the walls were all glass. It was an amazing view. Even though we were on the highway, it was still beautiful. "The cool thing is, that no one can see through." He stated brushing back a piece of my hair, bent down for kiss. I backed away slowly. "Sorry..It's just...You’re so intimidating." Eugene said frowning, while walking towards the door. He then turned around,”Sorry.” Walking past him I felt eyes on my butt.
